Recent client success
J.P. Morgan Asset Management has announced a strategic partnership with Kurtosys, onboarding the company as its strategic technology partner for client reporting.
What is changing
DATASETS API
Users can have permission to run datasets, edit datasets, or both.
At present, a user with run permissions can send a new, unsaved dataset through the API and run it. After this update, doing this will also need edit permission.
Running saved datasets will not change.
Requests that include the raw field on POST /execute, /executeLowPriority and /schemas will need UPSERT_DATASETS as well as EXECUTE_DATASETS. Without it, they will return a 401 Unauthorizederror.
Why we are making this change
We regularly review platform permissions so each user has only the access their role needs. Creating a new dataset is an editing task, so it should need edit permission. This gives you clearer control over who can change datasets in your account.
Who it impacts
We have reviewed current usage and do not expect this change to affect your setup.
It only applies if your systems call the Kurtosys API directly to run unsaved datasets, using an account with run permission only. If that is the case, please give those accounts edit permission before the update goes live.
When it takes effect
The update will go live by Friday, 6 November 2026.
